The Accelerated Reading Program (ARP) is required for all students in grades 1-11 during the school year.
This summer students can get a head start on the required reading. The school library is open in the summer on Tuesdays from 4 pm to 8 pm. Students can check out books and take tests during the summer that will count toward points during the school year.
Required reading points for lower school will be given out by the teacher when school starts.
Students in grades 6-11 will earn a reading grade at the end of the 2nd 9-weeks and at the end of the 4th 9-weeks of school. The grade will be the number of ARP points earned, times two, with a maximum grade of 100. For example, 48 ARP points = 96. The grade will equal a major test grade and excess points points can be carried over from first semester to second semester.
Students in grades 1-8 should choose books on grade level, or 1 grade below or 1 grade above. Students in grades 9-11 may choose books on 7th-12th grade level. Summer readers will be recognized.
If you are a new student that will be enrolling at LA in the fall please request a HomeConnect login by emailing Davie Finley, our school librarian at dfinley@laurensacademy.com.
Happy Reading!
